The Daniels are two North American directors, producers and screenwriters working as a duo: Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.
Everything Everywhere All at Once, conceived in 2010, has been a long time in the making.
The main character is excellent Asian actress Michelle Yeoh, known to international audiences since the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), where she played the role of an Asian femme fatale, and Ang Lee's remarkable Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000).
The synopsis: Evelyn Wang, (Michelle Yeoh), is a Chinese-American immigrant who, during a tax audit, is science-fictionally put into contact with parallel universes, where she will meet multiple versions of herself, and will be involved in a mind-blowing adventure to save the multiverse.
The film also features fabulous Jamie Lee Curtis in the supporting role of the slovenly IRS employee.
It is a comedy-drama that combines surreal humour, action, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts and animation.
Acclaimed for the originality of the plot, the quality of the screenplay, the brilliant direction, the excellent acting of the various protagonists, the special effects, the costumes, the action sequences, this brilliant film has just won seven first prizes at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday 12 March 2023: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Lead Actress (Yeoh), Best Supporting Actor (Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Curtis), Best Editing, Best Original Screenplay.
"Ladies, don't let anybody tell you you are past your prime, never give up." is part of beautiful Ms. Yeoh's Oscar acceptance speech. She is 60, very talented, famous since decades both in the East and the West, a fantastic actress.
We look forward to seeing the film in theatres, obvs in the original language version.
